CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

We know that it takes every business to make a difference in the fight for climate action and environmental remediation, and this is a cause close to our hearts. It is something our directors, our staff, our clients – and their consumers – feel strongly about.

We commit to donating a percentage of profits for all projects commissioned

Impact positively with every project

Every research project Ergo undertakes will have a positive impact on combatting climate change. We have chosen sustainability causes that address environmental threats to land, sea and air, so when you commission a project, Ergo will contribute on your behalf.

save the great barrier reef

Saving the Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is part of our identity as Australians, but its value as an ecosystem is global. It is the planet’s largest living organism and a barometer of world health; it is of incredible cultural significance to the Traditional Owners, its custodians for over 60,000 years; and it is a major economic driver, supporting the employment of up to 70,000 people. It is home to six of the world’s seven marine turtle species, 600 types of coral, 1,600 species of fish and 3,000 species of molluscs. In partnership with local landholders, communities and Traditional Owners, Greening Australia is working in the Reef catchments to improve water quality, restore wetlands, store carbon and provide habitat for species.

Regenerative agriculture reafforestation carbon sinks

Regenerating our Landscape

Regenerative agriculture, reafforestation and carbon sinks are part of a system of principles and practices that seeks to rehabilitate and enhance damaged ecosystems. Since European settlement, Australia has lost over 80 per cent of its natural habitats, due to land degradation, over clearing, soil erosion, acidification and salinity, which impacts both threatened native species and agricultural productivity. Greening Australia is working alongside farmers, Indigenous communities and scientists to reintroduce native vegetation, increase biodiversity and restore habitats as part of a climate adaptation program to help threatened plants and wildlife and combat global climate change.

urban greening

Rewilding our Cities

Urban greening is a way of restoring the natural environment to our ever-populous urban landscapes. With two out of every three Australians choosing to live in or near state capitals, there is an increasing need to ensure our cities and urban fringes are liveable environments, with tree canopies, waterways, green corridors and recreational spaces. Greening Australia is working with urban communities across the country to help nature adapt to its new climate and rebuild threatened ecosystems, with green initiatives that help meet carbon neutral targets, by supporting urban reserves and parks, making space for nature within urban planning and remind people that nature makes our built environment more liveable.

Impact in 2022 by Greening Australia*

  • 10,380 Tonnes of water pollutants prevented from reaching the Great Barrier Reef

  • 4,200,791 Native plants established

  • 50,781 Tonnes of carbon sequestered per annum

  • 5,077 Hectares of habitat established

 * About Greening Australia

Greening Australia has been restoring Australia’s unique landscapes and protecting biodiversity at scale through collaborative, science-based programs for over 38 years. Greening Australia is committed to tackling Australia’s greatest environmental challenges in ways that work for communities, economies and nature; planting millions of native trees and plants, protecting hundreds of native species, and supporting Traditional Owners’ aspirations for restoring country.
